Goal
ISSA is a network for European schools that are interested in creating a school
environment where safety for students and staff is of primary concern.

Our goal is to help the school staff to create a school, where all students
can learn and all teachers can teach in a safe, healthy and secure environment.

Purpose
The purpose of the organisation is to promote;

* research

* training

* education

* information

* public awareness activities

on problems related to establishing and maintaining safe schools suitable to
the didactic, personal and social development of students and emplyees.

The Association is politically, professionally and religiously unaffiliated.

Membership
Membership is divided into these categories -- Associate, Fellowship and
Sustaining.
While associate members are those whose occupations involve day-to-day
activity in school work, anyone who has the qualifications to further the goals
of the ISSA is invited to apply for membership. For more information, mail us.

Manifesto - School Safety Initiative

· Teachers cannot teach and students cannot learn in an
environment of crime, violence, intimidation and fear;

· Schools choose their anti-violence program;

· Parents choose their children's schools. If a school is unsafe,
parents will move their children to a school where safety is of
primary importance;

· To create the safe haven the school ought to be, the school
should put the emphasis on the safety-process, not the solutions;

· There is no one size-fits-all-solution for school safety. The ideal
violence prevention-policy will vary with each school, district
and country;

· It is of great importance to prevent crimes from happening
instead of fabricating excuses and pretending (and hoping)
it will not happen;
